CELLULAR HYDRATION
Hydration is key to a healthy metabolism, and healthy cells can’t produce energy without it.
A healthy human body is about two-thirds water with 1/3 of that being salt water. This water needs to be maintained and replenished often as we are constantly sweating, exhaling and eliminating the water we drink. Think of the difference between a clean, flowing stream versus a stagnant, still pond of water. Which state would you like your body to be in?!
Sources of hydration include water, fruit, beverages, coconut water and juices. The most natural and ones with the least amount of sugar, will be the better choices.
Note: Studies are now showing there are no safe limits of alcohol intake. If you do drink alcohol, it's suggested to drink 8-12 ounces of water for every standard alcoholic beverage to counteract the dehydration effects in your body.

WATER IS LIFE
Did you know water alone isn’t enough for proper hydration of the cell?
Proper hydration requires a balance of electrolytes—which are essential minerals—to keep your bodily systems humming along smoothly.
Ways to naturally maintain proper electrolyte balance in the body:
-
Add a pinch of natural salt such as Sea Salts or Himalayan Pink Salts or 1/4 tsp per 2 litres of water. (make sure salts are tested for the absence of heavy metals)
-
Chicken broth is a good source of minerals as well
-
Use electrolyte drinks. Be ware of sugar content and unnatural ingredients. To take the guess work out and for an electrolyte drink with a liposomal delivery system, check out dōTERRA RECHARGE.
How much water to drink:
While it's recommended to drink 8-10 eight ounce glasses of water daily, its a general guid line. There are so many factors to consider such as weather, physical output, your diet, body weight and overall health to name a few. While some use the suggestion to drink half our our body weight in ounces, daily, a useful tip is to drink enough that you urinate every 3 to 4 hours.
Best time to drink water:
-
When you get up in the morning
-
Before each meal
-
Before a work out or physical activity
-
After exposure to illness as a prevention measure
-
When you're tired
ESSENTIAL OILS IN WATER
When we include the use of pure, tested grade essential oils in our wellness lifestyle, they offer a smorgasbord of options when it comes to adding them to our daily water. (see the image above for a few ideas)
While there are so many to explore, keep in mind your own wellness needs when you're looking to adding them to your water. Every essential oil will have its long list of health benefits AND they will assist in keeping water intake high and interesting when you find the ones you love the taste of!
Lemon essential oil is a popular one to add to your water. It tastes amazing, provides support to the digestive tract, and is naturally cleansing.
Grapefruit, Lime and Wild Orange are great for the body from immune function to supporting a healthy inflammatory response.
Before you put an essential oil in your water, check the label to make sure it's safe for internal use. Oils that can be used internally will have supplement facts printed on the label.
It's best to use glass or stainless steel cup or water bottle.
We are essentially walking oceans.
We cry, sweat and bleed salt water.
In the words of Dr James Dinicolantonio,
stop drinking plain water to hydrate!
